Play sudoku online free: six levels with hints

Pick a level and play right here in your browser, free and without signing up. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and was checked to be solvable by logic alone, without guessing. If you get stuck, the hint button points to the next move and explains the technique, such as Hidden Single or X-Wing, instead of just filling in the answer.

The levels follow the techniques you need. Beginner and Easy need only singles; from Medium on, each level adds candidate patterns. If you are new to sudoku, start with Beginner and read Hidden Single first.

Choose a level

  1. Beginner sudoku: play free online

    Beginner puzzles start with 38–45 given numbers and are solved with Hidden Single, without guessing. Fill in the grid below; if you get stuck, press Hint to see the next move and why it works.

  2. Easy sudoku: play free online

    Easy puzzles start with 32–36 given numbers and are solved with Hidden Single and Naked Single, without guessing. Fill in the grid below; if you get stuck, press Hint to see the next move and why it works.

  3. Medium sudoku: play free online

    Medium puzzles start with 27–32 given numbers and are solved with Pointing Pair and Box/Line Reduction, without guessing. Fill in the grid below; if you get stuck, press Hint to see the next move and why it works.

  4. Hard sudoku: play free online

    Hard puzzles start with 24–29 given numbers and are solved with Naked Pair, Hidden Pair, Naked Triple, and Hidden Triple, without guessing. Fill in the grid below; if you get stuck, press Hint to see the next move and why it works.

  5. Expert sudoku: play free online

    Expert puzzles start with 22–27 given numbers and are solved with X-Wing, Swordfish, XY-Wing, and XYZ-Wing, without guessing. Fill in the grid below; if you get stuck, press Hint to see the next move and why it works.

  6. Master sudoku: play free online
